The Red Thread of Fate?

Already a day behind on posting – that’s the sign of a busy and fun summer Saturday. Bonus pic below to compensate.

August Break :: 8.1.13

Portland Art Museum Mark Building Entrance

My goodness – anyone know where July went? I can hardly believe it’s August Break time again. I wasn’t entirely sure I was in again this year (2012, 2011), but after not carrying my camera around for the better part of a month, I feel it’s time to kick myself into gear. Part of my hesitancy is that I have a backlog of about 1000 photos from Philadelphia, Scottsdale and Vancouver. But I have to face it. That has little to do with taking and posting one photo a day for a month.

One other minor hangup is the August Break is taking a slight turn by giving daily prompts. I think it’s great Susannah is shaking it up, but that didn’t really work for me in February’s endeavor. But then I was catching up with Mortal Muses and the Red Thread post struck me. Firstly, red is my no questions asked favorite color. I haven’t had even a second to watch any of the media they suggest, but I love the idea of finding red every day and weaving a thread through my August Break. So here I go, hacking a couple of themes and prompts into my own pursuit. Wish me luck! I hope you follow along!

Spring!

2 Apr

design_by_jen_spring_blossoms

I took this a couple of weeks ago with hopes of using it in a First Day of Spring post, but time slipped away. The day job required long days, March Madness kicked off and the amazing weather here in Portland was a much welcomed distraction. Regardless, it’s still spring and the blooms are still blooming, so the photo isn’t completely irrelevant.

In other news, I start a run of three trips in three months when I take off for Denver on Friday for an extended weekend. Barely four months into the year and I’m heading to a second never-been-to destination – I’m super excited! Hopefully I’ll return with photo fodder for a new Weekend Wanderings post!

St. Patrick’s Greetings!

I ordered this guy as part of a bigger concept for a St Patrick’s day greeting card for friends and family (because remember, I like to send things in the mail). Alas, he did not arrive on time to stage the photo shoot, create the cards and get them in the mail. The photo is going to have to suffice for this year! Sláinte!

Photo setup absolutely inspired by this lovely Portland photographer.

Upside Down - February Photo a Day

Upside down and underneath. And it looks like I made it through the month. More or less.

As I mentioned – I’m attempting a photo a day for February, following along with the prompts over on Fat Mum Slim. I’ll also be keeping them all nice and tidy in a Flickr set.
