Postcards From… Me (and Portugal)

12 Sep

design_by_jen_tavira_sunrise

Today my experiences traveling in Portugal are featured in a Q&A over on Emily Luxton’s travel blog. If memory serves me correctly Emily and I connected when she either “liked” or commented on a post of mine earlier this year. Of course, I took a gander at her blog and discovered she was counting down the days to her departure to Morocco – just like me! She went in March and her blog was a great resource of information before my own trip in May. Please take a moment to peruse her blog, the “Postcards From…” series, and everything else her site has to offer. Thanks Emily!

P.S. Traveled anywhere fun lately? Emily is always on the lookout for travelers to feature in her series. If so, give her a shout: eluxton (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk

Weekend Wanderings :: Mt. Hood :: House of Stories (Two)

6 Sep

As with yesterday’s post, I was once again smitten with an abandoned cabin. What stories did it hold? Who had left an entire shelf of board games and jigsaw puzzles knowing they’d never again be used? Did they know? How were there curtains and new steps without an occupant to climb them? Could this house with its padlocked door and lead glass windows be resuscitated? Are there more stories in its future?

I was utterly entranced by this abandoned cabin. Who had lived there? Who’d left there? How had it been forgotten? Had it been forgotten? I wanted to know its stories. But I also imagined the explanation for its desertion might best be left in solitude, like the cabin itself.
